Findatruckload (www.findatruckload.co.nz) is a new web based company that brings together road transport companies and freight providers online to eliminate empty running, improve freight efficiency and reduce unnecessary vehicle emissions. Through the utilisation of the existing capacity throughout New Zealand and matching them with half, full or multiple truckloads Findatruckload creates a way for transport operators to increase profit, reduce cartage costs for freight providers and reduce carbon emissions in the process! "The launch off Findatruckload has been well timed as businesses are focused more than ever on cost saving," says director Andrew Bishop. "Transport companies need to start working smarter, especially in our current economic climate. This can be achieved by utilising other transport operator’s truck capacity, rather than running their own units empty. Ultimately we would like to see transport operators posting their own freight on the website and sub contracting line haul where applicable," says Andrew. Users of the website can register for free and post their empty trucks and freight loads to be line hauled across New Zealand on the website. The information entered creates an anonymous listing which shows the pickup, delivery and load requirements. It is then emailed to the registered transport operators asking them to either accept the fixed price for cartage or make an offer on the listed load. All offers submitted are private and only seen by the load poster. Once an offer or fixed price is accepted, both parties receive contact details to arrange transport, billing and insurance. The website is used for all types of road transport including: general freight, heavy haulage, containers, bulk products and livestock. "It's essentially an online tender allowing users to submit a price for cartage," says Andrew. "We've kept the site easy and transparent. It is time the transport industry embraced the web as more and more business is done online," says Andrew. Findatruckload is a New Zealand owned and operated company with a team that draws on over 30 years experience in the transport industry. They are determined to make the road transport industry the service it should be. Director Andrew Bishop says: “We are aiming to be the "trademe" of the freight industry!” This article was reproduced with the approval of "FTD Magazine."
