Andrew BishopSpecialist: Bachelor of Commerce Landed: Director of sales and marketing for Findatruckload
“I am from the Waikato, and coming from a farming background, I knew Lincoln would suit me. I also wanted to meet new people and not follow all my friends to Otago and Canterbury.”
Andrew heard about the great career opportunities available in the transport industry after a presentation at his high school by a Lincoln University ambassador. “I chose a Bcom majoring in transport and logistics because I have always been interested in business management. The aspect of study I enjoyed the most was the practical courses with real-life lessons.
“One of the most relevant papers I did was on writing business plans. So simple, but so integral –this is your corner-stone document, where your ideas turn into reality.”
After graduating, Andrew worked for Mainfreight in the graduate programme for four years in Hamilton and New Plymouth. He is now the director of sales and marketing for Findatruckload.
“In the future, I would like to expand Findatruckload into overseas markets and then look at starting a few other business ventures in different industries.”
Andrew describes his time at Lincoln University as an “epic life experience”.
“It’s a great social environment to let your hair down and be who you want to be. Many personalities and good memories are etched in my brain from my time at Lincoln.”
